Rabbit Launches Online Grocery Ecommerce in short period of time by Building on AWS
Rabbit is an Ecommerce platform that delivers groceries and other products from neighborhood fulfilment centers to people’s homes in 20 minutes or less. Rabbit was founded by Ahmad Yousry, Walid Shabana, Ismail Hafez, and Tarek El Geresy, the on-demand delivery startup has been live since mid-October 2021. CEO Yousry, in an interview with TechCrunch, said the founders began discussing the idea of replicating fast delivery models in Egypt after noticing that he constantly experienced a sequence of slow and failed deliveries whenever he ordered groceries.

"Whatever the consumer wants under 20 minutes, we’re going to let the market dictate what we sell. We’re not limiting ourselves as a grocery player” – CEO Yousry
Rabbit promises “groceries and more in under 20 minutes”, they run on tech-enabled, hyper-local fulfillment centers, they are able to give their consumers peace of mind, knowing what their order will never be out-of-stock and guaranteeing it arrives in under 20 minutes.
Meet the Timeline
During the launching of Rabbit, they only focused on how to build and expand their platform in the shortest period of time. As “Rabbit Execute Fast” is one of their core values, they have a clear bias for action as they believe that executing right fast is more important than executing perfectly later.
However, this was the biggest challenge for them. So, they favored using AWS for its agility, scalability, security and high performance. Not to mention the variety of automation services that speed up the process of expanding their platform in no time.
They launched their Ecommerce and SAP landscapes on AWS. Utilizing services like Amazon EC2 for all the servers, RDS for the database, Kubernetes for automating containers. They also used services like AWS WAF to secure their web applications, CloudFront as their content delivery network to guarantee the lowest latency for their customers and CloudWatch alarms integrated with SNS topics to monitor their environment and notify them of any abnormalities.
Launching a Scalable, Cost-Effective Customer Shopping Experience
As a result, Rabbit was able to deploy their ecommerce environment in six months. In July 2022, they celebrated the successful delivery of 2,000,000 items.
